Protect extremely sensitive material,
such as board and committee papers on your iPad
An innovation that enhances the security of documents stored on iPad mobile devices, The CommandHub Mobile Vault, is an iPad app that interfaces with the CommandHub Software as a Service” (SaaS) solution to secure highly sensitive documents.
It was developed in response to demand for a highly secure, yet easy to use, environment to protect extremely sensitive material, such as board and committee papers, on mobile devices like the iPad.
The CommandHub Mobile Vault is a smarter, innovative approach to securing sensitive business documents in the hands of senior executives and corporate directors. It is smarter in that its technology is easy to use, and innovative because of its unique approach to fully secure the material that has been downloaded from the CommandHub SaaS site.
CommandHub set out to solve not only the problem of the user leaving their iPad somewhere, but the deliberate theft of an iPad containing highly sensitive material where the base encryption key and remote reset features could be compromised.
The CommandHub approach utilises an additional layer of security that relies on multiple factors to appropriately protect the material as well as the erasure of all protected information after repeated password failures.
The announcement in late May that Apple’s encryption key, which is stored on the iPad, had been compromised by a Russian company has highlighted the timeliness of this innovation.
The CommandHub Mobile Vault uses encryption completely independent of the Apple iOS operating system. The application stores all information in an AES-256 encrypted database while neither the decryption key nor the user password is stored on the iPad.
The CommandHub technology, provided as a web-based managed service or for internal deployment, is specifically designed to solve the problem of securely, yet easily, sharing sensitive information.
Built on the most stringent security principles, which include four firewall layers and four levels of encryption, CommandHub separates roles by both access and function to prevent inadvertent errors and minimise malicious activity.
The new CommandHub Mobile Vault app extends this level of security to the securing of sensitive information on tablet computers.
Whilst the initial deployment of the CommandHub Mobile Vault is for the iPad, a subsequent release will be targeted at Android-based devices.
